Created as a class project by the 2008 Master Gardener Winter Class, the sun and shade gardens border the northern and southern areas of the Pavilion. The shade garden uses plants that require or can tolerate very little direct sunlight. This garden is used a as “living border” for the Pavilion. Plants such as Oregon Grape, lungwort, azaleas, lace-leaf hydrangeas, Dapple Willow (Hakuro Nishiki), goldentree, and others thrive in the north border where less direct sunlight falls during the day.
