Central to the Garden lies the Pavilion with its cinder block walls and vaulted wood ceiling. With funds supplied by a grant from DEQ, construction began in August of 2000 and all but completed except for the roof by January of 2001. With the help of the Umpqua Valley Homebuilders who enlisted the Wolf Creek Job Corps, the roof was constructed at the Job Corps site, dismantled, trucked to the Garden and reassembled to complete the Pavilion by April of 2003.
The Pavilion is used by Master Gardeners, school children, garden clubs and other civic organizations. The pavilion is not available for large private gatherings.
Surrounding Gardens
Created as a class project by the 2008 Master Gardener Winter Class, the sun and shade gardens border the northern and southern areas of the Pavilion.
The Shade Garden
The Shade Garden uses plants that require or can tolerate very little direct sunlight. This garden is used a as “living border” for the Pavilion. Plants such as Oregon Grape, lungwort, azaleas, lace-leaf hydrangeas, Dapple Willow (Hakuro Nishiki), and others thrive in the north border where less direct sunlight falls during the day.

The Sun Garden
The Sun Garden is defined by plants that need at least 6 full hours of direct sunlight. Many sun lovers enjoy more than 6 hours per day, but need regular water to endure the heat.
